Going To School For Style Design And Marketing Can Be A Really Exciting Job Path Alternative

I am often astounded to see the how magnificent and bizarre the fashion industry has turned into. For some reason it is hard for me to comprehend people and their complete love for clothes. Don't get me wrong! I like a great pair of pants as much as the next guy, but you will not catch me handing over hundreds of bucks for a pair of pants, or even for plus size coats, which can be high-priced. Forget it. Not that my taste has any effect on the style industry what-so-ever. Oodles of youthful people are going to fashion styling and marketing schools to better learn the industry. Hey, I can not say that I blame them. There's plenty of money to be made there. I am pretty sure Tom Ford is hungry nowadays.

When I asked my teen-age daughter what area she wished to pursue, she began rambling on about fashion design and marketing. Hmm, big shock! What teenage girl isn't interested in the style industry? And I thought - hey, possibly she can get me a good deal on my plus size coats! As far as i can see, they all go ga-ga over clothing, shoes, and accessories. Anyway, she began taking a secondary school course in style design and marketing her senior year. Unfortunately she hated it. Now she is a bit torn about her future plans. She still dreams of a job in the fashion industry, but is naturally worried about whether or not she'll like it. I told her to give fashion styling and merchandising another shot when she heads off to college next year. And no-one said she had to delve into this particular aspect of the style industry. There are a few alternatives out there. She could market swimsuits, jeans, evening wear, plus size coats, wedding attire, avant garde fashion...the possibilities are end-less.

It's certainly a difficult business. If you truly want to see how things work, look at the Style net-work sometimes in order to see true clothing designers in their world. Or you can catch that little reality tv series "The Hills." Although the main character in this show has a whole lot of cash coming in from her parents, she's getting a good dose of the fashion styling and marketing world. You can see her work as an intern for "Teen Vogue" and get a good idea of what is expected of her. It's definitely not all glam and glitz at the very beginning, but I am sure any successful clothes designer can tell you that. You have to be willing to work hard and compete with the many. The best place to begin is a highly recommended fashion design school.
